Scotland trip, new bathroom and crazy weather!

We went up to Scotland for a flying visit at the end of August and it was a lovely couple of days but the weather was not on our side for agility! Here are a few pics of our trip

Agility wise we went to Gleniffer champ show and it was the jumping round first, it was windy but not too rainy. Spark was 2nd in champ jumping which was fab considering the a pole had blown off a jump as the dog that won had started so she didn't have to do as many jumps as Spark! Brooke got E'd in champ jumping and although we walked the champ agility they ended up taking out the dog walk and there was no seesaw. When they were about to start the small agility an A frame blew out of the ring next to ours!! At that point they cancelled the show so we decided to head home!

In the week before our Scotland trip we had a show and a lovely bank holiday weekend pottering round the garden. The weather was beautiful! My hydrangea called blue sparkle 💜

Matts Mum and sunflowers!

The doglets did well at Bridge house!

Queen Diddle!!

Squidge has been to visit a couple of times recently and he fits into the pack so well!

Spark was spayed when we came back from Scotland and is sporting a donut and a surgical suit in the photos! She is most unimpressed about it!

Stitches out day!

The other none dog news is that we have a lovely new bathroom! Ignore the washing up bowl in the bath as we were cleaning but its so smart!

The KCI that wasn't...

We were supposed to have been at the Kennel Club International Festival on Saturday but it got cancelled very sensibly due to heavy rain and high winds. We spent the weekend at home doing a few jobs and did some training in the field as well. Sparkle had the all clear from the physio so it was nice to be back running her again! Bru managed to sequence weaves which was amazing!!

Bru has also been getting used to being bio-mag'd after training...he hates it!! This is the grumpiest he ever looks tho, he is so sweet!

I am lucky enough to teach someone with their own chickens and I get lovely free range eggs from her, imagine my delight in finding a double yoke on my Sunday morning brunch 🍳

Spark was on lead walks for the previous week and very cross about it but we did a few out about town things including a visit to Cafe Nero where we met this teeny yorkie! Spark looks like a giant but she is teeny for a collie!

The shelties spent the one sunny afternoon this week 'helping' in the garden, our tomatoes are coming on nicely. You can just about see them behind Bru

Brodie looking devastatingly handsome as usual!!

And the ginger girls soaking up the sun! Our sunflowers are doing well again this year 🌻

Such a cute trio...they look like they are ordering drinks at a bar!

This is more the scene from our walks this week, raincoats on again and a grumpy Brax!

And Sparks first off lead walk after the all clear...freedom!!

I baked a courgette cake at the weekend as we have sooooo many! It is very tasty! Lemon curd filling and buttercream icing....yummy!

Agility Club Show and T&A Bru's first jumping win!

The girls were entered into champ at Agility Club and the boys had an anysize/veteran agility run each. We walked the champ jumping first and agreed that we would run our own dogs today. The course was not easy so I was very pleased to get Spark round it and to finish 7th! She didn't feel quite 'on it' and was beaten by a couple of dogs that she is normally a good second ahead of...more about this later. Brooke was wild and wasn't listening to Matt at all so got taken out in disgrace and also didn't run the agility as it was windy! Sparks agility round ended up in an E, I didn't connect as I ran off up the dog walk and she came with me. Bru had an absolute blast in his anysize and although they weren't placing he was the fastest with a ground speed of 6.5 metres per second! Brodie loves veteran agility but sadly no video of him going clear.

Bru Anysize

It was lovely after doing a few big shows to do T&A (which also has amazing cheesy chips in their cafe 😋) Bru was on form and actually got his weaves in the ring first time and won his jumping class!!

Not to be outdone by her nephew, Brooke won her jumping and agility classes! Her agility course was really tricky but fun to run.

Spark had the fastest time over the same course by ten seconds but took two poles....arggghh!! She also was the fastest time with a pole in the jumping, it was a lovely course to run though!

I took Spark and Brodie to UKA on Masters day, Brodie was an absolute dude and won his casual jumping! Spark did a cracking run in the Masters jumping but again took two poles. I'm sad I don't have a video as it was a tricky course and she was such a good girly! The fact she was taking poles was bothering me so I got her booked in with our lovely physio Sally last Friday and she had a jammed up sacroiliac joint and was very sore 😔 I feel terrible that I had been running her and she was trying so hard for me! She is being checked over again on Thursday so I'm hoping she will be able to play at KCI!

Tuffley, RVA and Ruffs!

Long post alert!!

The boys were superstars at RVA on the Friday, Brodie won the G6-7 jumping and Bru won his C1-7 steeplechase! The girls were brilliant in champ, both had a pole in the jumping and Brooke missed her dog walk contact in the agility round. We had a dog swap so I was running Brooke and Matt had Spark! Unfortunately the courses were pretty straightforward so with 5f in each round she didn't make the final. Spark was 7th in the agility round and unfortunately got E'd in the final!

Here are some videos
Brooke champ jumping

Toad many front crosses!

Spark champ agility

Bru steeplechase

You wouldn't think these two are related!! 😂😂

Brooke in my office after some training!

Waiting for breakfast!

Spark approves of her new paddling pool!

The day after RVA we went to Tuffley, the girls were doing champ and the boys had a jumping run each. Bru failed to get weaves in his course and took a few attempts but managed to win it with 10 faults!! I accidentally eliminated Toad in his run as I thought he had hit a pole but he hadn't...what a wally! Brooke got E'd in champ but did some super cool stuff with Matt. Spark and I made the champ final and then messed it up three jumps from the end!

Spark redeemed herself this weekend by winning the CSJ Qualifier at Ruffs UKA! She was a super girly and appreciated her trophy!! That is all four competing dogs qualified for the Grand Finals now!

Weekend off and Omnidogs

We have had a hot couple of weeks and even used our BBQ a few times! We love our garden and spend more time out there than inside in this weather! No shows but Bru and Spark both had a Dan workshop with Dan which was good fun but I ran so much I almost felt sick 😂 Here are their videos!

And yes there is rare footage of Spark being run by Dan. She started quite confidently and then started to wonder what was going on! She really won't run for anyone other than me and Matt usually so it was quite a big deal!!

The weekend was so hot that we didn't go to a KC show as planned on the Saturday but went to Omnidogs on the Sunday instead. The main reason was to do some rewarding weaves in the ring with Bru as he is still finding them really difficult in competition. Spark managed to run fro Matt with a photographer there and win her jumping! Brooke ran for me in agility and tried to bog off when I gave her the wrong weave command...totally my fault! We redeemed ourselves in the jumping with a nice run but just a pole. Brodie doesn't jump 40cm much anymore so I have been trying to do casual classes with him. Unfortunately there was either casual agility or pairs where he could jump 30cm so I opted for pairs with Matt running Brooke bean. Brodie hasn't done contacts in the ring for a couple of years but he was brilliant! We opted to let Brooke do the jumping half as it was a real run and the dog walk exit would have been really hard with a running contact (we didn't see anyone manage it!) We somehow managed a double clear and ended up in 2nd place qualifying us for the Grand Finals!!! What super shelties 💙💚

We have also been back to Wrest Park, it is such a beautiful place to walk and even Brax managed to come with us and have a picnic!

Axstane disaster!

The less said about Axstane the was a disaster from beginning to end really! Firstly Bru's jumping clashed with Sparks champ agility which made it a bit stressful. Bru's course was really not flowing for a young dog but he made his own course up anyway haha! Spark was in post season brain fart so I wasn't expecting wonders but she worked ok apart from coming out of her weaves which is really unusual. Here is her agility run...long jump was my fault as I gave her quite a late command. Really pleased with her wrong end of tunnel though!

Brooke had a course not as flowing as Sparks for her champ agility, unfortunately she was drawn to run straight after Lian and Bru's brother Siri. Well it just totally blew Brookes brains entirely! She wouldn't settle on the start line and then flew over the aframe, landed in a heap and then ran out of the ring to find her Grandma! 😞

In champ jumping Spark came out of her weaves again which made me realise there might be an issue. (Luckily both girls were booked for a mid season check with the physio on the Monday. Sure enough Spark was a bit tight and Brooke was sore from her dive over the aframe. No show this last weekend so Brooke has had a good rest and lots of taking it easy!)

We walked the boys tunnels and jumps course and decided it was squashed up and silly so we went home in a bit of a strop! Poor Toad hadn't got to do anything so I took him the the field during the week and gave him a run around 💙

Bru at Dans camp

In between the two Quadpaws weekends Bru went on a two day mini camp at Dans! It was brilliant for Matt to have taken the time off to work him and he was the only small dog and also the youngest invited on camp so we were hoping he wouldn't disgrace himself! 😂 He was absolutely AMAZING! He had been bumped out of the puppy group and ended up in the 3-5 group but held him own and worked really are a couple of videos

Day 1

Day 2

I also got to borrow Trek for a couple of runs which was fun! I always love borrowing dogs as it really tests my handling!

Wednesday, 12 June 2019

So the next two weekends we spent at Quadpaws which was great for some NFC contacts with Bru, Spark was out of action due to coming into season early, Brodie and Brooke had a few runs and Matt ran Helens Toby in Masters! The first Saturday was the Beginners Steeplechase qualifier and Bru WON it so is off to the Grand Finals at the end of October! 💛

Here is his run, he clocked 5.9 mps in this!!

Matt did really well with Toby in Masters as well, he was clear in the jumping with a wobble before the weaves but unfortunately had faults in the agility. Both courses were tricky! Here is there jumping run

Brodie had so much fun in casual, here is his 2nd place!

And I managed to win a couple of jumpings with Brooke bean!

Bru's contacts are coming on nicely, here is him playing nfc doing dog walk and aframe

Scotland Trip and SKC

We had a long weekend in Scotland in May as well! We stopped on the way up in Berwick upon Tweed and had a walk, some putting and some chips :-) Brax didn't do the walk but she did go down a slide haha!!

Needless to say Matthew won the putting competition but it was a close fought battle!

We enjoyed seeing my Dad and little sis on the Saturday, we played some games and had a walk on the beach (despite the tide being right in we found some sand!) and in the evening had an amazing meal out as a Birthday celebration! Matt, me and Amy all have birthdays within ten days on each other! The lovely couple that own the restaurant had made a chocolate birthday cake (he is a master chocolatier!) and look at the little decoration on the top!! 💕

The shelties found being on holiday exhausting!

Walkies with my sis and the boys!

Bit of Molky on the lawn 😁

Bru makes a nice garden ornament!

On the Sunday we went to SKC agility show at Ingliston. The girls were both in champ and the boys had a lower height jumping each. Bru got weaves second time! Brooke had a great time in the champ jumping but took the back pole off the spread. Spark managed to get 2nd which I was really pleased with as the course was tight and twisty...not what we usually do well on!

We had a refusal in the agility but made the final...that is 3 finals in 4 champs now! Unfortunately she had the tyre at the start of the final so it all went a bit wrong but I was pleased with how she ran!
